Emory & Henry Women’s Swimming Picked Fifth In First-Ever SAC Preseason Poll

ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Swimming Team has been picked to finish in a tie for fifth place in the South Atlantic Conference this year by the league's head coaches. The poll was released by the SAC office on Monday.

Wingate University, the 11th-place team at the 2022 NCAA Division II Championships, is picked to win the league with four of the six first-place votes. Carson-Newman University, which was 10th at last year's national meet, is second with the final two top nods. Lenoir-Rhyne University is third while Catawba College is fourth with E&H and Mars Hill tied for fifth.

This will be the first year the SAC has sponsored men's and women's swimming as a championship sport. Featuring six teams, all of which competed in the former Bluegrass Mountain Conference. Wingate placed second as a team in last year's Bluegrass Mountain Championship, followed by Carson-Newman in third, Lenoir-Rhyne in fifth, Catawba in sixth, Mars Hill in seventh, and Emory & Henry in eighth.

Additionally, the SAC has announced its Swimmers to Watch List with sophomore Hope Christensen (Moroni, Utah) and freshmen Mackenzie Barnett (Monroe Township, N.J.) and Mick Sorochen (Monmouth Junction, N.J.) making the list for E&H.
