Catawba Women’s Swimming Topples Emory & Henry, 146-112, Saturday In League Meet

SALISBURY, N.C. – The Catawba College Men's & Women's Swimming Teams earned a pair of South Atlantic Conference dual-meet wins over visiting Emory & Henry College on Saturday. The Catawba Indians took the meet by a men's score of 154-100 and a women's tally of 146-112.

The E&H women won six events while the men came away with three individual victories.

The Men
- Sophomore Corey Kidd (Stockbridge, Ga.) turned in a pair of wins, going a :22.05 in the 50-yard freestyle and a :53.99 in the 100-yard butterfly. He was also second in the 200-yard individual medley (2:09.85).
- Freshman Max Betzer (Cumming, Ga.) posted a victory in the 1,000-yard freestyle at 10:17.99, was the runner-up in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:10.23) and took third in the 200-yard butterfly (2:15.98).
- Freshman Owen Seymour (Signal Mountain, Tenn.) had a trio of runner-up marks in the 50-free (:22.32), the 100-free (:50.04) and the 100-back (56.51).
- Freshman Nate Perez (San Antonio, Texas) added a second-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke at 2:35.59.
- E&H also tallied a pair of runner-ups in the relays, going 1:32.39 in the 200-yard freestyle relay and a 4:04.53 in the 400-yard medley relay.

The Women
- Sophomore Paige Gelenski (Boca Raton, Fla.) earned three individual wins, taking first in the 200-yard butterfly at 2:16.92 as well as the 100-yard butterfly (1:01.79) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:17.83).
- Sophomore Hope Christensen (Moroni, Utah) and freshman Mackenzie Barnett (Monroe Township, N.J.) went 1-2 in the 50-yard freestyle at :25.14 and :25.77, respectively, while Barnett added a win of her own in the 200-yard backstroke (2:16.38).
- Freshman Gabby Sadosky (Las Vegas, Nev.) won the 500-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 5:33.05 and was third in the 1,000-free at 11:49.80 and the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:33.99.
- Freshman Mick Sorochen (Monmouth Junction, N.J.) took runner-up honors in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:03.96 and the 100-fly (1:02.30). Freshman Jill Koler (Manassas, Va.) had a second-place finish of her own in the 100-yard breaststroke, stopping the watches in 1:12.76.
- The Wasps closed the meet by going 2-3 in the 200-yard freestyle relay with times of 1:43.25 and 1:50.88.
