HICKORY, N.C./EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's & Women's Swimming Teams got the spring portion of their seasons started on Friday and Saturday. The Wasps visited Lenoir-Rhyne University on Friday for a matchup with the Bears while the women also took on Converse University. E&H concluded the weekend with a home matchup against Catawba College as the women also hosted the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.

The Men
- Sophomore Corey Kidd (Stockbridge, Ga.) won the 100-yard backstroke in :55.77, was second in the 100-yard butterfly (:55.67) and second in the 50-free (:22.92).
- Freshman Max Betzer (Cumming, Ga.) touched the wall first in the 1,000-free with a time of 10:36.44 and was second in the 500-yard freestyle (5:12.91). He also placed third in the 200-yard backstroke at 2:12.94.
- Freshman Owen Seymour (Signal Mountain, Tenn.) won the 50-yard freestyle in :22.82, grabbed second in the 100-free at :49.90 and was third in the 100-back :58.08.
- Freshman Caleb Patton (Marion, Va.) tallied a trio of third-place finishes in the 100-breast (1:09.15), 200-breast (2:27.29) and 200-IM (2:13.86).
- Freshman Payton Nabors (Lawrenceville, Ga.) touched the wall third in the 200-free with a time of 1:58.92 as freshman Jordan Krafft (Waxhaw, N.C.) was third in the 200-yard butterfly (2:31.59).
- E&H was second in the 200-yard medley relay at 1:43.81 and third in the 200-free relay (1:37.72).
The Women
- Freshman Mackenzie Barnett (Monroe Township, N.J.) won the 1,000-yard freestyle in a time of 11:09.72 while taking second in the 200-yard backstroke (2:23.92) and third in the 500-yard freestyle (5:34.20).
- Sophomore Paige Gelenski (Boca Raton, Fla.) grabbed a victory in the 100-yard butterfly, touching the wall in 1:02.69. She was the runner-up in the 200-fly (2:20.02) and third in the 200-yard individual medley at 2:21.82.
- Freshman Gabby Sadosky (Las Vegas, Nev.) took second in the 200-yard freestyle at 2:05.05, freshman Jill Koler (Manassas, Va.) was second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:15.44) and freshman Mick Sorochen (Monmouth Junction, N.J.) placed second in the 100-yard butterfly (1:03.49).
- Sophomore Hope Christensen (Moroni, Utah) was second in the 50-free at :26.24 and third in the 100-back at 1:07.44 while sophomore Peyton Helscher (Simi Valley, Calif.) placed third in the 1,000-free (12:13.54).
- The Wasps' relays were second in the 200-free relay at 1:46.37 and third in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:01.50.

The Men
- Kidd grabbed a pair of victories on the day, winning the 100-free (:54.57) and the 100-fly (1:01.89). He was the runner-up in the 200-free at 2:06.84.
- Patton touched the wall first in the 200-meter breaststroke with a time of 2:50.04 and was second in the 100-breast (1:16.37).
- Nabors touched the wall second in the 100-butterfly (1:04.34) and the 200-meter individual medley (2:29.09). He was also third in the 200-fly with a time of 2:27.06.
- Seymour placed second in the 50-meter freestyle, stopping the watches in :24.81 and was third in the 100-meter backstroke (1:03.02).
- Freshman Christian Smrekar (Rock Hill, S.C.) was the runner-up in the 200-back at 2:37.43 as freshman Nate Perez (San Antonio, Texas) was second in the 200-breast (2:57.35).
- Betzer posted a third-place finish in the 800-meter freestyle at 9:31.10.
- The Wasps closed out the meet with a second-place finish in the 200-meter freestyle relay with a time of 1:42.57.
The Women
- Gelenski broke her own record in the 200-meter butterfly as she won the event with a time of 2:35.26. She was also third in the 100-fly at 1:10.82.
- Barnett was third in the 800-free, touching the wall in 10:19.16 while Christensen placed third in the 50-free (:29.24).

- Emory & Henry will host Mars Hill University in a South Atlantic Conference dual on Saturday, January 14 at 2:00 p.m. The Wasps will honor their seniors prior to the start of the meet.
