Emory & Henry Women’s Swimming Earns A Pair Of Dual-Meet Victories Saturday

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The Emory & Henry University Men's & Women's Swimming Teams competed in a double dual Saturday against King (Tenn.) University and Lees-McRae College. The women won both duals, beating the Tornado, 139-79, and the Bobcats by a 165-33 margin. The men's squad defeated LMC by an 81-68 score and fell to King, 127-57.

The Men
- Junior Caleb Patton (Marion, Va.) picked up a victory in the 1,000-yard freestyle, swimming a 10:24.02 while senior Corey Kidd (Stockbridge, Ga.) was first in the 100-yard butterfly (:53.77).
- Junior Jordan Krafft (Waxhaw, N.C.) took runner-up honors in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 5:08.13 while sophomore Brady Jones (Bluefield, Va.) was second in the 100-free (:51.49) and sophomore Ryan Teuton (Chattanooga, Tenn.) was second in the 100-yard backstroke at 54.01 seconds.
- Freshman Ian Shirk (Black Mountain, N.C.) placed third in the 200-free (2:13.91) and the 100-yard individual medley (1:11.21).
- The Wasps' group of Teuton, Patton, Kidd and Jones was third in the 200-yard medley relay in 1:42.46.

The Women
- Senior Hope Christensen (Moroni, Utah) picked up victories in both of the sprint freestyle events, winning the 50-free in 24.67 seconds and the 100-free in 55.24 seconds.
- Senior Paige Gelenski (Boca Raton, Fla.) was first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:06.89 and won the 100-yard butterfly in 1:02.00.
- Junior Mackenzie Barnett (Monroe Township, N.J.) won both of the distance events, posting a 5:24.46 in the 500-yard freestyle and an 11:15.14 in the 1,000-yard freestyle.
- Junior Samantha Pepevnik (Porsgrunn, NORWAY) claimed the victory in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:01.25 and was first in the 400-yard individual medley, swimming a 4:46.47.
- Senior Rachel Ritter (Gibsonville, N.C.) won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:12.29 and was third in the 400-IM (5:18.83).
- Junior Maggie Robinson (Canton, Ga.) was the runner-up in the 200-free at 2:08.96 and placed third in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:00.38.
- Freshman Aida Matute Moreno (Viladecans, SPAIN) took second in the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.82) and was third in the 100-butterfly (1:07.75).
- E&H got a win in the 200-yard freestyle relay on the efforts of Christensen, senior Peyton Helscher (Simi Valley, Calif.), Robinson and Barnett, who went 1:46.07.
- The Wasps were second in the 200-yard medley relay with Pepevnik, Ritter, Gelenski and freshman Kursten Thomas (Marion, Va.) stopping the watches in 1:59.62.

- Emory & Henry will remain on the road next Saturday when it visits Carson-Newman University for a double-dual with the Eagles and Milligan University.
