
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Emory & Henry University Men's & Women's Swimming Teams both sit in sixth place following the first three sessions of the South Atlantic Conference Championships. The meet is being held at the Greensboro Aquatic Center for the second year in a row.
The Wasps saw new school records in the 50-yard freestyle for both the men's and women's teams over the course of the day with a pair of swims earning NCAA Division II "B" Qualifying Standards.

Tuesday's Women's Results
- Event 1 – 800-Yard Freestyle Relay – Senior Paige Gelenski (Boca Raton, Fla.), sophomore Jaxon Thurman (Ooltewah, Tenn.), freshman Kursten Thomas (Marion, Va.) and senior Peyton Helscher (Simi Valley, Calif.) swam an 8:25.85 to finish sixth.
Tuesday's Men's Results
- Event 2 – 800-Yard Freestyle Relay – Sophomore Ryan Teuton (Chattanooga, Tenn.), freshman Ethan Veselik (Marion, Va.), junior Jordan Krafft (Waxhaw, N.C.) and junior Caleb Patton (Marion, Va.) touched the wall fifth in 7:43.45.
Wednesday's Women's Results
- Event 3 – 1,000-Yard Freestyle – Thurman finished 21st at 12:30.98 while Digby was 22nd (13:53.53) in a timed-finals format.
- Event 5 – 200-Yard Individual Medley – Gelenski placed 24th in the "C" Final with a time of 2:15.06. Senior Rachel Ritter (Gibsonville, N.C.) was 27th and freshman Tirayan Bartlett (Woodbridge, Va.) was 28th in the preliminaries.
- Event 7 – 50-Yard Freestyle – Senior Hope Christensen (Moroni, Utah) achieved a NCAA Division II "B" Cut in the preliminaries with a school-record time of :23.65 to earn the fifth seed in the finals. She held on to fifth place in the finals, touching the wall in 23.67 seconds. Freshman Aida Matute Moreno (Viladecans, SPAIN) and freshman Sierra Carson (Pasadena, Md.) took 23rd (:26.93) and 24th (:29.45) in the "C" Final.
- Event 9 – 200-Yard Medley Relay – Matute, Ritter, Gelenski and Christensen turned in a 1:53.10 finish in sixth place.
Wednesday's Men's Results
- Event 4 – 1,000-Yard Freestyle – Krafft finished 21st in the timed-finals event at 11:20.39.
- Event 6 – 200-Yard Individual Medley – Teuton placed 22nd overall, swimming a 2:00.09 in the "C" Final. Freshman Ian Shirk (Black Mountain, N.C.) finished 26th in the preliminaries as the second alternate.
- Event 8 – 50-Yard Freestyle – Senior Corey Kidd (Stockbridge, Ga.) broke his own school record, swimming a 20.91 seconds to place 17th. Sophomore Brady Jones (Bluefield, Va.) and Veselik were 35th and 40th, respectively in the morning session.
- Event 10 – 200-Yard Medley Relay – Teuton, Patton, Shirk and senior Kyle Berry (Ringgold, Ga.) were fifth, stopping the watches in 1:44.36.
