Emory & Henry Men’s & Women’s Swimming Sixth After Friday At The SAC Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Emory & Henry University Men's & Women's Swimming Teams kept rolling through the South Atlantic Conference Championships on Friday at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. Both squads remain in sixth place with one day of competition remaining.

The Basics

The Women
 - Event 19 – 500-Yard Freestyle – Senior Peyton Helscher (Simi Valley, Calif.) placed 14th with a time of 5:28.27. Freshman Kursten Thomas (Marion, Va.) was 20th (5:55.64), sophomore Madison Graham (Radford, Va.) took 21st (6:05.21) and junior Bri Digby (Carrollton, Ga.) was 22nd (6:55.31).
- Event 21 – 100-Yard Backstroke – Freshman Aida Matute Moreno (Viladecans, SPAIN) claimed 17th place with a swim of 1:02.96 as Thomas was 23rd at 1:10.68.
- Event 23 – 100-Yard Breaststroke – Senior Hope Christensen (Moroni, Utah) touched the wall in 1:09.36 to place 12th with senior Rachel Ritter (Gibsonville, N.C.) two spots behind in 14th (1:11.16).
- Event 25 – 200-Yard Butterfly – Senior Paige Gelenski (Boca Raton, Fla.) stopped the watches in 2:11.97 to finish 11th.
- Event 27 – 200-Yard Freestyle Relay – Christensen, Graham, freshman Sierra Carson (Pasadena, Md.) and Matute finished sixth in 1:51.15.

The Men
 - Event 20 – 500-Yard Freestyle – Junior Caleb Patton (Marion, Va.) finished 14th, swimming a 4:50.84 while freshman Ethan Veselik (Marion, Va.) was 21st in 5:26.38 and junior Jordan Krafft (Waxhaw, N.C.) placed 22nd in 5:32.25.
- Event 22 – 100-Yard Backstroke – Sophomore Ryan Teuton (Chattanooga, Tenn.) swam a :52.27 as senior Corey Kidd (Stockbridge, Ga.) was 17th in the prelims before scratching in the finals.
- Event 24 – 100-Yard Breaststroke – Freshman Ian Shirk (Black Mountain, N.C.) finished 16th in 1:15.36.
- Event 28 – 200-Yard Freestyle Relay – Kidd, senior Kyle Berry (Ringgold, Ga.), sophomore Brady Jones (Bluefield, Va.) and Teuton turned in a 1:28.04 to place sixth.
