Emory & Henry Women’s Tennis Sweeps Salem, 9-0, Satuday Afternoon

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Tennis Team (3-1) completed a perfect week with a 9-0 victory over Salem College Saturday afternoon. The Wasps also swept Mary Baldwin College on Wednesday to open the spring season.

Freshman Taylor Evans (Gate City, Va.) teamed up with junior Alyssa Wingate (Independence, Va.) to win, 8-1, at the number one doubles flight. Evans won at No. 2 singles (6-0 6-0) while Wingate posted a (3-6, 6-0, 1-0 (10-5)) win at the top draw.

Freshman Meredith Yeary (Knoxville, Tenn.) won (6-3, 6-1) at number three singles while her doubles teammate junior Emily Bolt (Independence, Va.) earned a three-set win at the four spot. The pair claimed an 8-3 victory at No. 2 doubles.

Junior Blair Brabson (Knoxville, Tenn.) won 6-1, 6-0 and sophomore Sheyenne Cleveland (Rural Retreat, Va.) picked up a 6-0, 6-1 win at number five and number six singles to also highlight the afternoon. Cleveland teamed up with junior Casey Blackburn (Richmond, Va.) for a 8-4 win at three doubles.

Emory & Henry will travel to Hilton Head Island, S.C. for four matches next week.
