HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Tennis Team (5-3) picked up a 5-4 win over Misericordia University Thursday afternoon to conclude its schedule of matches over Spring Break. The Wasps went 2-2 and saw several strong performances over the duration of the week.

Misericordia took a 2-1 lead after the doubles portion of the match. E&H's only win coming from sophomore Sheyenne Cleveland (Rural Retreat, Va.) and junior Blair Brabson as they were victorious by an 8-0 score.

In singles, junior Alyssa Wingate (Independence, Va.) picked up a 7-6, 6-2 win while freshman Taylor Evans (Gate City, Va.) earned a three-set victory at the second singles spot.

The Wasps got a 6-4, 6-2 win from Brabson at number five singles with Cleveland's three-set win at the sixth singles flight (6-4, 7-6 (3)) proving to be the difference maker in the match.

Emory & Henry will next face off against Virginia Wesleyan College and Randolph-Macon College next Saturday as they open Old Dominion Athletic Conference play at Lexington, Va.
