Taylor Evans Named ODAC Women’s Tennis Player Of The Week

FOREST, Va. - Emory & Henry College's Taylor Evans has been selected as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week, ODAC officials announced Monday afternoon. It is the first time in over seven years that an E&H player has won the award.

The freshman from Weber City, Va., led the Wasps to a 2-2 week at Hilton Head Island, S.C., last week, with victories over Regis (Mass.) College and Misericordia University.

Evans went 4-0 on the week at number two singles to push her season record to 8-0. In her first three singles matches of the week, Evans only dropped four games total for an aggregate score of 36-4. She won a three-set contest against Misericordia (2-6, 6-0, 1-0 (10-4) that proved to be the match-winner for the Wasps.

Along with doubles partner junior Alyssa Wingate (Independence, Va.), Evans put up a 2-2 record at the top doubles flight, with an 8-0 win over Regis (Mass.) and an 8-6 decision against Assumption College.

Emory & Henry will return to ODAC play on Saturday afternoon when it faces Virginia Wesleyan College and Randolph-Macon College in Lexington, Va.
