EMORY, Va. - The Randolph College Women's Tennis Team (4-2, 1-2 ODAC) won two of the three doubles matches and held on with three singles wins to defeat Emory & Henry College (5-7, 0-4 ODAC) by a 5-4 score Saturday afternoon in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action.
Junior Alyssa Wingate (Independence, Va.) and freshman Taylor Evans (Weber City, Va.) picked up an 8-2 win at the top doubles flight. The Wasps nearly escaped doubles play with a 2-1 lead as junior Casey Blackburn (Richmond, Va.) and junior Emily Bolt (Independence, Va.) came up just short, 8-6, at the No. 3 pairing.
Evans earned a three-set victory at number two singles and freshman Meredith Yeary (Knoxville, Tenn.) won easily, (6-1, 6-1) at the third individual flight. Bolt claimed a 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 (10-7) win at number five singles as well for the Wasps.
Emory & Henry will travel to Sweet Briar College on Sunday for an ODAC matchup against the Vixens. First serve is set for 2:00 p.m.
