Hollins Women's Tennis Defeats Emory & Henry, 7-2, Friday Afternoon

EMORY, Va. - The Hollins University Women's Tennis Team (9-5, 7-3 ODAC) picked up a 7-2 victory over Emory & Henry College (7-10, 2-7 ODAC) Friday afternoon in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action.

E&H had a strong doubles performance from sophomore Sheyenne Cleveland (Rural Retreat, Va.) and freshman Meredith Yeary (Knoxville, Tenn.) at the second flight. The pair played close with their opponents from Hollins before falling, 8-6.

Junior Emily Bolt (Independence, Va.) battled at No. 5 singles, but took the loss 6-3, 6-3. Junior Alyssa Wingate (Independence, Va.) and freshman Taylor Evans (Weber City, Va.) each took four games off of their opponents.

The Wasps two wins game via default as Hollins was not able to field a full six-person squad due to illness.

Emory & Henry will have its final home match of the 2012-13 season on Saturday as it hosts ODAC newcomer Shenandoah University. First serve is set for noon.
