Stella Di Michele Named ODAC Women's Tennis Player Of The Week

FOREST, Va. - Emory & Henry College's Stella Di Michele has been selected as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week, ODAC officials announced Monday afternoon. It is the first time this year that an E&H player has won weekly league honors.

The freshman from San Remo, ITALY, led the Wasps with a 4-0 week, winning both of her doubles and singles matches over tough ODAC opponents. She posted a 6-2, 6-3 win at the top singles flight on Saturday morning at Virginia Wesleyan and claimed a 6-0, 6-1 decision on the road against Guilford Sunday.

Di Michele and doubles partner freshman Lauren Riner (Coeburn, Va.), were perfect in doubles winning both matches 8-3 over the Marlins and Quakers. Emory & Henry also picked up its first league win of the season, taking down Guilford by a 6-3 score to snap an eight-match losing streak.

For the season, Di Michele is 11-1 at the premier spot in the singles lineup with a 6-1 mark against ODAC competition. She is 10-2 during doubles play, teaming up with all three of her teammates at one point or another. Di Michele has a 9-1 record at No. 1 doubles.

Emory & Henry will return to the court on Friday afternoon when it travels to Hollins University for an ODAC match. First serve is set for 4:00 p.m.
