
Hilton Head, S.C. - Emory & Henry women's tennis (2-2, 0-0) drops their first match, 7-2, in Hilton Head, South Carolina versus Albion College (5-1, 0-0). The match was the first of two on the Spring break trip.
Sveva Mazzari (San Remo, ITALY) and Savanna Summers (Bluff City, Tn.) started the day off strong with an 8-3 victory at the number one flight. Lauren Riner (Coeburn, Va.) and Kaitlyn Sheaves (Staunton, Va.) played very well at the number two doubles spot, but ultimately fell 8-5. At three doubles, Katie Meade (Coeburn, Va.) and Emma Baltuskonis (San Antonio, Texas) went down 8-0.
Mazzari continued her winning ways at one singles by defeating her opponent 6-0, 6-1. Riner played a strong match at two for the Wasps. The junior took the match to a third set, but met her demise 4-6, 6-3, 10-3. Summers also went to the third set, but lost 3-6, 6-0, 12-10. Sheaves went down 6-2, 6-3 at four and Meade lost 7-5, 6-1 at five. Baltuskonis fell at the six spot 6-0, 6-0.
The women's tennis team will play Eastern Nazarene on Wednesday in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
