
Bristol, Tenn. - The Emory & Henry women's tennis team (7-4, 4-2 ODAC) made quick work of the Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan College (4-4, 3-2 ODAC) Saturday afternoon. Due to cold weather and time constraints, both coaches agreed to an abbreviated match at Bristol Racquet & Fitness Club in Bristol, Tennessee. The Wasps defeated the Marlins 6-0 in dominant fashion.
Sveva Mazzari (San Remo, ITALY) and Savanna Summers (Bluff City, Tn.) were back to their winning ways at one doubles. The two blew past the Virginia Wesleyan pairing, 8-0. Lauren Riner (Coeburn, Va.) and Kaitlyn Sheaves (Staunton, Va.) defeated their opponent, 8-2, at two doubles, while the pairing of Ana-Belen Gomez (Irving, Texas) and Katie Meade (Coeburn, Va.) won, 8-1, at three doubles.
Mazzari went to work at one singles, beating her opponent, 6-0, 6-1. Two and three singles did not finish due to time constraints and the overall match already being decided. At four singles, Gomez earned a 6-2, 6-2 victory. Five singles did not start their match, while Meade won, 6-0, 6-2, at six singles.
The Wasps next match is Sunday, April 10th at 12:30 p.m. The Wasps will take on Randolph-Macon College, who is ranked 14th in the region.
