Emory & Henry Edges Out Another ODAC Victory Over Hollins, 5-4, Sunday Afternoon

Roanoke, Va. - The Emory & Henry women's tennis team (9-5, 5-3 ODAC) earns yet another ODAC victory on what is turning out to be a very successful season.  The team earned a 5-4 victory over ODAC opponent Hollins University (1-12, 0-9 ODAC).  The Wasps now sit fourth in the ODAC standings as the end of the regular season is quickly approaching.

Sveva Mazzari (San Remo, ITALY) and Savanna Summers (Bluff City, Tn.) are now on a four-game win streak as doubles partners.  The two moved to 9-1 on the season after an 8-2 victory at one doubles.  Two doubles did not fair so well, as Lauren Riner (Coeburn, Va.) and Kaitlyn Sheaves (Staunton, Va.) lost, 8-5.  Ana-Belen Gomez (Irving, Texas) and Katie Meade (Coeburn, Va.) earned their fifth win as doubles partners, blanking their opponent, 8-0.

Mazzari has now won 13 straight matches at one singles for the Wasps.  She shutout her opponent in quick fashion, 6-0, 6-0.  Riner went down, 6-2, 4-6, 6-3, at two doubles.  At three singles, Summers earned her sixth victory of the season, 6-2, 1-6, 7-6.  Gomez went down in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4.  Sheaves fell at five singles, 6-3, 1-6, 10-7.  Meade continues to show her dominance at the bottom half of the lineup for the Wasps, winning, 6-0, 6-1.  The victory is Meade's 11th win of the season in singles play.

The Wasps take on ODAC-leading Washington and Lee on Saturday, April 23rd at Richardson Tennis Courts at Emory & Henry College.
