FOREST, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Tennis Team has been picked to finish sixth in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference by the league's 11 head coaches, ODAC officials announced Friday.
The Wasps are coming off an 11-7 season last year where they went 6-4 against conference opponents and reached the semifinals of the ODAC Tournament. Emory & Henry returns six players from a year ago including all-league performers senior Savanna Summers (Bluff City, Tenn.) and sophomore Katie Meade (Coeburn, Va.), and welcomes three new players to the squad.
Washington and Lee University, the winner of the past 14 ODAC titles and 26 overall, is picked to continue its dominance with 11 first-place votes and 121 points. Randolph-Macon College is second with the final first-place vote (109 pts.). Roanoke College and Bridgewater College are third and fourth, respectively while Lynchburg College is fifth.
E&H (1-2) will open the spring portion of its season on Sunday, February 19 when it hosts Ferrum College in a non-conference match at 9:00 a.m. The match will take place at the Bristol Racquet & Fitness Club. The Wasps will play their first ODAC match on Saturday, March 4 at Washington and Lee.
