Men's Tennis Drops ODAC Matchup At Randolph-Macon, 7-2, While Women Take Tough 9-0 Loss, Saturday Afternoon

ASHLAND, Va. - Both the Emory & Henry College Women's Tennis Team (7-10, 4-5 ODAC) and men's tennis team (3-13, 1-7 ODAC) were on the road at Randolph-Macon Saturday afternoon. While sixth in the conference, the women still have a good shot to make the ODAC tournament, despite the 9-0 loss today. The men were able to pick up two victories in their 7-2 loss, but sit in 10th in the ODAC.

WOMEN 

Doubles
-
Liz Graham (Bristol, Va.) and Lauren Riner (Coeburn, Va.) fell quickly at one doubles, 8-1.
-At two doubles, Savanna Summers (Bluff City, Tenn.) and Bri Pierce (Purlear, N.C.) were taken out with the same 8-1 score at two doubles.
-At three doubles, Kaitlyn Sheaves (Staunton, Va.) and Katie Meade (Coeburn, Va.) were completely shut out at three doubles.

Singles
-Riner was blanked, 6-0, 6-0 at one singles.
-Graham was down 4-1 in the first set, when she was forced to retire.
-Summers was beat, 6-0, 6-1, at three singles
-At the fourth flight, Pierce was defeated, 6-0, 6-1.
-Meade could not win her match on the day, losing, 6-4, 6-1.
-Sheaves rounded out the day with a 6-2, 6-0 loss.

MEN

Doubles
-John Dalton Ferguson (Gate City, Va.) and Grayson McCarty (Marion, Va.) took a tough 8-2 loss at one doubles.
-
Kamil Aliev (Moscow, RUSSIA) and Luke Funkhouser (Gate City, Va.) picked up a huge 8-4 win at two doubles.
-Cooper Garrett (Gate City, Va.) and James Watson-Dare (Charlotte, N.C.) lost by the score of 8-1 at three doubles.

Singles
-Ferguson earned a victory at one singles, with a 6-3, 6-2 outing.
-Aliev was beaten, 6-2, 6-2, at two singles.
-At three singles, Funkhouser lost 6-1, 6-3.
-Shipley suffered a 6-0, 6-0 loss at four singles.
-McCarty went down at five singles, 6-0, 6-3.
-Garret also lost, 6-0, 6-1, to end the day for the Wasps.

- The men's tennis team's next match will be at home vs. Lynchburg College on April 22nd at 1 p.m.
