SWEET BRIAR, Va. - The Emory & Henry women's team (4-11, 1-8 ODAC) were not able to pick up a win on the road, Saturday afternoon. The Wasps were at the wrong end of a 7-2 defeat courtesy of conference opponent, Sweet Briar College (7-10, 3-7 ODAC).
Doubles
- Katie Meade (Coeburn, Va.) and Kaitlyn Sheaves (Staunton, Va.) took an 8-3 loss at one doubles.
- Bri Pierce (Purlear, N.C.) and Tessa Johnston (High Point, N.C.) were downed 8-1 at two doubles.
- Kala Curtis (Locust Grove, Va.) and Kelsey Holt (Staffordsville, Va.) caused all kinds of problems at three doubles. But the duo ultimately fell, 9-7.
Singles
- Meade lost, 6-0, 6-1, at one singles.
- At two singles, Curtis lost, 6-3, 6-1.
- Johnston and Sheaves lost at three and four singles, respectively.
- Pierce stayed hot today at five singles. With a 6-2, 6-0 victory, she picked up her team-leading 12th singles victory.
- Ellington King (Versailles, Ky.) battled her way to a win on the day. The freshman won, 6-3, 6-2, at six singles.
Next Match
The Wasps are on the road tomorrow at Lynchburg University. The match is set to begin at 12:00PM.
