How It Happened
The Wasps jumped out to a 2-1 lead after the doubles portion of the match. Senior Tessa Johnston (High Point, N.C.) and freshman Cailie Pollard (Rural Retreat, Va.) blanked their opponents, 8-0, at No. 3 while senior Vanna Summers (Bluff City, Tenn.) and freshman Logan Graham (Radford, Va.) picked up an 8-1 win at No. 2.
E&H clinched the match with victories at the fourth through sixth singles flights. Senior Bri Pierce (Purlear, Va.) won at No. 5 by a 6-0, 6-0 score. Pollard won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6 while Graham grabbed a 6-2, 6-1 win at the fifth flight. Senior Kaitlyn Sheaves (Staunton, Va.) and Summers both claimed "pro-set" victories at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively.
