SPARTANBURG, S.C./EMORY, Va. - The Emory & Henry College Women's Tennis Team (2-2) got the spring season started over the weekend with a pair of 9-0 dual-match wins. The Wasps blanked the Pioneers of Spartanburg Methodist College in exhibition on Saturday and continued their success with a 9-0 victory against William Peace University Sunday at home.

How It Happened
Emory & Henry began the match with a 2-0 lead due to defaults by the Pioneers at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles. The Wasps got an 8-0 win at the second doubles flight from sophomores Logan Graham (Radford, Va.) and Cailie Pollard (Rural Retreat, Va.).

In singles play, E&H completed the sweep as freshman Payton Holt (Mount Ulla, N.C.) won 6-0, 6-0 at the premier pairing while Graham and freshman Chrissy Rukeyser (Knoxville, Tenn.) dropped just one game each.

How It Happened
Sunday against the Pacers, the Wasps dropped just one game in doubles on their way to a 3-0 advantage. Pollard and Graham notched their second-straight 8-0 win while freshmen Sarah Marion (Dobson, N.C.) and Bailey King (Marion, Va.) blanked their opponents at No. 3.

Holt won a three-set matchup at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (8-6) while the rest of the Wasps blanked their opponents to complete the sweep of the Pacers.
