EMORY, Va. - The Emory & Henry College Women's Tennis Team earned a 7-0 win over visiting Maryville (Tenn.) College on Saturday afternoon. It was the first home match of the spring for the Wasps.

How It Happened
Emory & Henry started the match ahead 1-0 as Maryville defaulted at No. 6 singles. The Wasps were also up, 1-0, in their quest to claim the doubles point as the Scots also defaulted at No. 3 doubles.

E&H made it a 2-0 lead after doubles as junior Payton Holt (Mount Ulla, N.C.) and sophomore Tess Flanigan (Marietta, Ga.) grabbed a 6-2 win at the top flight while sophomore Molly McMichael (Riner, Va.) and freshman Sabina Chernega (Odesa, UKRAINE) won 6-1 at No. 2.

In singles action, Chernega picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win at the premier pairing while Holt won - 6-0, 6-2 - at the second flight. Flanigan only dropped one game, winning 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 as McMichael tallied a win in a tiebreak at No. 4. Freshman Ann Gray Perdue (Bluefield. Va.) closed the match out by winning 6-1, 6-3 at the fifth flight.
