Anderson Men’s & Women’s Tennis Defeat Emory & Henry Sunday In SAC Opener

ANDERSON, S.C. - The Emory & Henry College Men's Tennis Team (3-3, 0-1 SAC) and Women's Tennis Team (4-1, 0-1 SAC) each fell to Anderson (S.C.) University in their first South Atlantic Conference matches in program history on Sunday afternoon. The Trojans won each match by a 7-0 scoreline.

Men's Match
- Freshman Kartik Parhar (Ludhiana, INDIA) and sophomore Juan Alvarez (Metepec, MEXICO) dropped a tough match at No. 1 doubles by a 4-6 score. Sophomore Corey Garrity (Spartanburg, S.C.) and freshman Diego Alvarez (Bogota, COLOMBIA) came up short in No. 2 doubles 3-6.
- Parhar also battled but dropped his match at No. 2 singles 5-7, 3-6. Juan Alvarez took his opponent to a tiebreak in the second set of No. 3 singles but fell 1-6, 6-7(2).

Women's Match
- The Trojans picked up a clean sweep of the doubles portion of the match to go on top 1-0. 
- Junior Emma Charlton (Newcastle upon Tyne, ENGLAND) fell in No. 2 singles 3-6, 1-6 and freshman Natalie Bergmann (Forest Hills, N.Y.) put up a tough fight at No. 4 singles but dropped her match by a 5-7, 3-6 score.

- The Emory & Henry Men's Tennis Team will be back in action on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. against former Old Dominion Athletic Conference foe University of Lynchburg.
