Carson-Newman Men's & Women's Tennis Defeat Emory & Henry Wednesday Afternoon

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - The Emory & Henry College Men's Tennis Team (4-11, 0-8 SAC) and Women's Tennis Team (4-9, 0-8 SAC) fell to Carson-Newman University in South Atlantic Conference action on Wednesday afternoon. Both the men's and women's teams won by a 6-1 margin.

Men's Match

- The doubles duo of freshman Kartik Parhar (Ludhiana, INDIA) and sophomore Juan Alvarez (Metepec, MEXICO) picked up a win at the No. 1 doubles position by a 6-2 score, but the Eagles took the other two doubles matches for an early 1-0 advantage.

- Parhar won an epic three-set match at No. 2 singles as he outlasted his opponent 3-6, 6-0, 7-6 (8-6). 

- Fifth-year Brandon McGuire (Christiansburg, Va.) dropped a close decision at No. 6 singles by a 4-6, 5-7 scoreline.

 

Women's Match

- Millie Turner (Chobham, ENGLAND) and freshman Nina Williams (Fleet, ENGLAND) received a win by default at No. 3 doubles but the Lady Eagles won the top two flights of the doubles portion to claim the 1-0 lead. 

- Turner earned another win by default, this time at No. 6 singles.

- Freshman Natalie Bergmann (Forest Hills, N.Y.) came up just short in her first set and eventually fell at No. 4 singles by a 6-7 (2-7), 2-6 score.

 

Up Next

Emory & Henry returns to play Saturday when it welcomes the Saints of Limestone University to the Richardson Tennis Courts. First serve is scheduled for 1:00 p.m..
