Emory & Henry Women's Tennis Takes Down King, 6-1, Saturday On The Road

BRISTOL, Tenn. - The Emory & Henry College Men's Tennis Team (0-1) and Women's Tennis Team (1-0) opened up their 2023 fall season with matches against King (Tenn.) University on Saturday afternoon. The Wasps' women's team won by a 6-1 margin while the men's team fell by a 5-2 scoreline.

Men's Match
- Sophomore Kartik Parhar (Ludhiana, INDIA) was victorious at No. 1 singles as he mounted a comeback after dropping his opening set to win 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.
- Sophomore Tristan Hicks (Abingdon, Va.) picked up a win at No. 6 singles by a 6-1, 6-2 margin.

Women's Match
- E&H started the day with a 2-0 lead as King was unable to fill the No. 5 and No. 6 singles flights.
- Senior Emma Charlton (Newcastle upon Tyne, ENGLAND) won a hard-fought match at No. 2 singles in a third-set tiebreak 6-1, 5-7, 1-0 (10-0).
- Freshman Kira Turpin (Godalming, ENGLAND) dominated her opponent in straight sets at No. 3 singles 6-0, 6-0.
- Sophomore Natalie Bergmann (Forest Hills, N.Y.) won at No. 4 singles 8-0.
- Bergmann and junior Sabina Chernega (Odesa, UKRAINE) teamed up for a win at No. 1 doubles by a 7-5 score and the team of Charlton and Turpin clinched the doubles point with a 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles.
