Coker Women’s Tennis Defeats Emory & Henry, 6-1, Saturday Afternoon

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Emory & Henry College Men's Tennis Team (2-17, 0-11 SAC) and Women's Tennis Team (3-15, 1-10 SAC) each fell in South Atlantic Conference play to Coker University Saturday afternoon at Byerly Park. Both the Cobras' men's and women's teams earned wins by a 6-1 margin.

Men's Match
- The doubles partnership of sophomore Kartik Parhar (Ludhiana, INDIA) and freshman Niclas Naedele (Munich, GERMANY) topped Thibeault Decaluwe and Tom Lamers at No. 1 doubles by a 6-3 final score. The Cobras took the other two doubles matches for the early 1-0 lead.
- Parhar defeated Decaluwe in straight sets by a 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 scoreline at No. 1 singles for his seventh consecutive win at the No. 1 singles position.
- Freshman Will Bayliss (Totland, Isle of Wight, ENGLAND) dropped a 2-6, 4-6 decision to Andy Huynh at No. 4 singles.
- Sophomore Diego Alvarez (Bogota, COLOMBIA) fell 4-8 to Carlos Nau at No. 6 singles.

Women's Match
- The duo of junior Sabina Chernega (Odesa, UKRAINE) and freshman Meghan Moore (Midlothian, Va.) took down Katherine Matthews and Salome Sierra by a 6-2 score at No. 3 doubles. Coker won the other two doubles matches to establish the 1-0 advantage.
- Moore dispatched Sydnee Foster by an 8-4 margin at No. 6 singles.
- Senior Emma Charlton (Newcastle upon Tyne, ENGLAND) dropped a tough three-set match at No. 2 singles 6-2, 4-6, 0-1 (4-10) scoreline.
- Sophomore Katie Bradley (Auchterarder, SCOTLAND) fell in a three-set heartbreaker 7-6 (7-3), 2-6, 0-1 (3-10) at No. 5 singles.

- Emory & Henry will wrap up the 2023-24 season on Sunday, April 14 when the Wasps travel to take on the Pioneers of Tusculum University. First serve is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. from Greeneville, Tennessee.
