MARS HILL, N.C. - The Emory & Henry University Women's Tennis Team (2-6, 1-3 SAC) and Men's Tennis Team (1-7, 0-4 SAC) split a pair of South Atlantic Conference matches against Mars Hill University Tuesday afternoon. The women's team picked up its first South Atlantic Conference win of the year 6-0, while the men's squad fell by a 4-0 margin.

Men's Match
- The Lions earned wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to take an early 1-0 lead.
- Sophomore Niclas Naedele (Munich, GERMANY) was leading 7-6, 3-0 against Sasha Molina at No. 1 singles when the match was left unfinished.
- Freshman Leo Knothe (Hanover, GERMANY) fell 1-6, 0-6 to Paul-Antonie Pelzer at the No. 2 singles position.
- Sophomore Will Bayliss (Totland, Isle of Wight, ENGLAND) led Emiel Tidman 7-6, 1-3 at No. 3 singles, but the match was unfinished.
- Junior Tristan Hicks (Abingdon, Va.) was defeated 0-6, 0-6 by Paulo Gutierrez at No. 4 singles.
- Junior Nathan Spurling (Abingdon, Va.) lost by a 4-6, 3-6 scoreline to Diell Mehmedi at the No. 5 singles spot.
- Junior Keenan Glago (Harrisonburg, Va.) trailed 4-6, 2-3 to Yasen Kehayaminchev at the No. 6 singles position.

Women's Match
- The doubles partnership of senior Sabina Chernega (Odesa, UKRAINE) and sophomore Olivia Pursley (Hendersonville, N.C.) combined for a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles. Junior Nina Williams (Fleet, ENGLAND) and sophomore Meghan Moore (Midlothian, Va.) teamed up for a dominant 6-0 victory at No. 3 doubles to clinch the doubles point and the 1-0 advantage.
- Freshman Tahnne Sesma (Zumaia, SPAIN) trailed 2-6, 4-4 at No. 1 singles to Shakti Mishra when the match was unfinished.
- Freshman Ellyson Kovacs (Bristol, Tenn.) defeated Hannah Frazer by a 6-1, 6-1 score at No. 2 singles.
- Williams topped Willa Gettys 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3 singles.
- Pursley downed Versha Yadav by a 6-0, 6-2 margin at the No. 4 singles spot.
- Sophomore Karlie Quinn (Mocksville, N.C.) swept Alaina Holden 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles.
- Moore earned a 6-0, 6-0 straight sets victory over Brookleigh Hess at No. 6 singles.

- Emory & Henry has a week off before returning to action next Wednesday, March 19 when they host Lincoln Memorial University. The women's match is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. while first serve for the men is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. from the Richardson Tennis Courts.
