Emory & Henry Women’s Tennis Falls To Lincoln Memorial, 4-0, Wednesday Afternoon

EMORY, Va. - The Emory & Henry University Women's Tennis Team (2-6, 1-3 SAC) and Men's Tennis Team (1-7, 0-4 SAC) each fell in South Atlantic Conference play to Lincoln Memorial University Wednesday afternoon. Both teams dropped 4-0 decisions to the Railsplitters.

Men's Match
- The No. 18 nationally-ranked Railsplitters earned wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to take an early 1-0 lead over the Wasps.
- Sophomore Niclas Naedele (Munich, GERMANY) battled Harper Mills at No. 1 singles and trailed 4-6, 5-6 when the match was left unfinished.
- Freshman Leo Knothe (Hanover, GERMANY) fell to Alexandru Giurea 0-6, 1-6 at the No. 2 singles position.
- Sophomore Will Bayliss (Totland, Isle of Wight, ENGLAND) took the opening set against Radu Florea, but his match was unfinished due to the overall match reaching the clinch point. The scoreline sat at 6-4, 1-4 when the match was abandoned.
- Junior Nathan Spurling (Abingdon, Va.) dropped a 1-6, 1-6 decision to Sergio Sebastian Aranzeta Boneta at No. 4 singles.
- Senior Alvaro Garcia (Madrid, SPAIN) was defeated 2-6, 0-6 by Patricio Garcia at No. 5 singles.
- Junior Keenan Glago (Harrisonburg, Va.) trailed 3-6, 3-4 to Francisco Faggi when the match was left unfinished.

Women's Match
- The Lady Railsplitters took wins at No. 2 doubles and No. 3 doubles to jump ahead by the 1-0 margin.
- Senior Sabina Chernega (Odesa, UKRAINE) was defeated by Rosalie Carrier-Dulac at No. 1 singles by a 1-6, 1-6 final.
- Freshman Tahnne Sesma (Zumaia, SPAIN) took the opening set 6-3 and was trailing 2-5 in the second set to Marta Melnichenok at No. 2 singles when the match was left unfinished. 
- Freshman Ellyson Kovacs (Bristol, Tenn.) dropped a 0-6, 3-6 decision to Mia Rodriguez at No. 3 singles.
- Junior Nina Williams (Fleet, ENGLAND) battled back to even the second set against Mann-Ning Li at No. 4 singles, but the match was unfinished with the score at 0-6, 4-4.
- Sophomore Olivia Pursley (Hendersonville, N.C.) was down 4-6, 1-4 to Alexandra Ortiz at No. 5 singles when it was left unfinished.
- Sophomore Karlie Quinn (Mocksville, N.C.) suffered a 0-6, 0-6 defeat to Lucie Palud at the No. 6 singles position.

- Emory & Henry continues South Atlantic Conference play on Friday, March 21 when the Wasps host the Cobras of Coker University. The women's match is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. while the men will get things underway at 4:00 p.m. from the Richardson Tennis Courts.
