
EMORY, Va. - The Emory & Henry University Women's Tennis Team (3-11, 2-8 SAC) and Men's Tennis Team (1-13, 0-10 SAC) split a pair of South Atlantic Conference matches with Southwest Virginia rival the University of Virginia's College at Wise Wednesday afternoon. The Wasps women's team swept the Cavaliers by a 4-0 margin while the men's team fell by a 4-0 final.

Men's Match
- The Cavaliers took both the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matches by 6-2 finals to jump ahead 1-0.
- Sophomore Niclas Naedele (Munich, GERMANY) won the opening set 7-5 and was ahead 2-1 in the second set at No. 1 singles against Dmitrii Semenov, but the match was left unfinished.
- Freshman Leo Knothe (Hanover, GERMANY) dropped a 2-6, 1-6 decision to Miguel De Rueda at No. 2 singles.
- Junior Nathan Spurling (Abingdon, Va.) fell by a 0-6, 2-6 scoreline to Chathurya Nilaweera at the No. 3 singles position.
- Junior Tristan Hicks (Abingdon, Va.) was defeated 1-6, 0-6 by Yi-Hsuan Chen at No. 4 singles.
- Junior Keenan Glago (Harrisonburg, Va.) trailed 3-6, 2-3 at No. 5 singles to Vanja Vojinovic when their match was left unfinished.
- Senior Alvaro Garcia (Madrid, SPAIN) was behind 1-6, 2-5 to Arne Fassbender at No. 6 singles, but the match was unfinished.
Women's Match
- The doubles team of sophomore Karlie Quinn (Mocksville, N.C.) and junior Nina Williams (Fleet, ENGLAND) won by default at No. 3 doubles, while the partnership of sophomore Olivia Pursley (Hendersonville, N.C.) and senior Sabina Chernega (Odesa, UKRAINE) won by a 7-5 margin at No. 2 doubles to take the doubles point and the 1-0 advantage.
- Chernega won the opening set of her No. 1 singles match 7-6 (8-6) over Constanca Azinhaga, but the match was unfinished.
- Freshman Tahnne Sesma (Zumaia, SPAIN) was trailing Lucy Cunliffe by a 4-6, 0-3 margin at No. 2 singles when their match was abandoned.
- Freshman Ellyson Kovacs (Bristol, Tenn.) picked up a big 6-2, 6-3 win over Kinsey Knox at the No. 3 singles position to clinch the overall match win for the Wasps.
- Pursley split the opening two sets 3-6, 6-3 and led 1-0 in the third set against Abiela Wang at No. 4 singles when the match was left unfinished.
- Williams won by default at the No. 5 singles spot.
- Quinn earned a win by default at No. 6 singles.
