
ATHENS, W.Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's & Women's Track & Field Teams picked up five event wins, broke five school records annd tied another on Friday afternoon at the Concord Invitational. While the meet was one of the smaller attended by the Wasps since the revival of track & field last year, the performances continued to show the growth of both programs.

The Men
The Wasps dominated the throws, taking the top four spots in both the shot put and the discus. Freshman Edward Rajner (Bainbridge, N.Y.) tied the E&H record in the shot with a put of 14.01 meters to win while junior Trel Phillips (Ooltewah, Tenn.) picked up the victory in the discus with a throw of 33.50 meters. Sophomore Markell Moss (Wytheville, Va.) took second in the long jump with a school-record mark of 6.12 meters.
In the running events, sophomore Conor White (Warrenton, Va.) put down a new program best of 2:02.01 in the 800 meters to finish third while freshman Ahdonis Turay (Manassas, Va.) was third in the 100 meters (:11.99).
The Women
Junior Erica Grupp (Charlottesville, Va.) led off the afternoon with a win in the 5,000 meters with a time of 20:28.12, coming up less than four seconds shy of a new record. Junior Graysen Barrs (Abingdon, Va.) was the runner up in the 100 meters, breaking her own school best by stopping the watches in :13.49. Sophomore Alette McGuire (Chesapeake, Va.) set a new record in the 800 meters with her third-place finish as well (2:42.34).
In the field events, Emory & Henry grabbed another pair of wins. Freshman Taylor Gilbert (Abingdon, Va.) notched a school record with a 1.55 meters in the high jump while freshman Lorin Zehr (Holly Pond, Ala.) won the shot put at 9.08 meters.
