Emory & Henry Track & Field Opens The Season At The North River Invitational Saturday

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Track & Field Teams got the 2021 outdoor season started on Saturday, competing in the North River Invitational, hosted by Bridgewater College.

The Wasps saw two men's records and one women's record fall during the day's action.

Top Men's Performances
- Junior Edward Rajner (Bainbridge, N.Y.) claimed the most points for the Wasps, winning the discus throw with a school-record mark of 42.30 meters and the shot put with a throw of 12.84 meters. He was also the runner-up in the hammer throw (37.58m).
- Sophomore Colby Martin (Fork Union, Va.) won the long jump with a performance of 5.37 meters and took fifth in the triple jump at 11.52 meters.
- Senior Conor White (Warrenton, Va.) set a new program best in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:14.83 to finish third.

Women's Top Performances
- Freshmen Annalyse McHone (Shawsville, Va.) and Madeline Bishop (Collinsville, Va.) played fourth in the 1,500 meters (5:28.04) and 800 meters (2:53.76), respectively to lead the team.
- Freshman Julia King (Bristol, Va.) was seventh in the 400 meters, clocking a record time of 1:09.38.
- Junior Lorin Zehr (Holly Pond, Ala.) took fifth in the discus at 25.82 meters and the hammer throw at 29.06 meters. She was also sixth in the shot put (8.99m).

- Emory & Henry will be back in action on Friday, April 2 when it competes in the EMU Legacy Meet in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
