Emory & Henry Track & Field Competes At The Flat is Fast Invitational Sunday

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Emory & Henry College Track & Field Teams kept the season going on Sunday at the Flat is Fast Invitational,  hosted by JDL Fast Track. Another four program records fell as both the men and women eclipsed two program bests.

Top Men's Performances
- Freshman Zavery Wallace (Buena Vista, Va.) was fifth in the shot put with a mark of 13.68 meters while freshman Gavin Lee (North Tazewell, Va.) was 18th in the shot (11.54m) and 15th in the weight throw (11.88m).
- Freshman Jarrell Harrison (Virginia Beach, Va.) turned in a time of :07.18 in the qualifying round of the 60 meters, finishing fifth, and was also ninth in the 200 meters at :23.13.
- In the 400 meters, freshman Zedrick Yeboah (Fredericksburg, Va.) set the school record for the second week in a row, taking eighth in :53.45. Freshman Hayden Oglesby (Virginia Beach, Va.) was ninth in the 400 (:53.48) and cracked the top 20 in the 200 at :23.37.
- Freshman Matthew Klapak (Zion Crossroads, Va.) set a new school record in the 3,000 meters, covering the distance in 9:40.27.

Women's Top Performances
- Freshman Michelle Diaz (Woodbridge, Va.) broke her own record in the 400 meters, going a 1:07.39 to finish 21st while freshman Chloe Jones (Harrison, Tenn.) also came in under the previous mark.
- Freshman Valentia Perry (Hampton, Va.) posted a new E&H best in the 200 meters at :29.28.
- Freshman Avery Word (Fincastle, Va.) was 24th in the weight throw with a mark of 8.86 meters and threw 8.48 meters in the shot put to finish 28th.
