Emory & Henry Track & Field Sets Five Records At ETSU’s Buccaneer Invitational

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The Emory & Henry College Track & Field Teams made their second trip to East Tennessee State University in the past four weeks, competing at the Buccaneer Invitational on Friday and Saturday. The women's team broke two school records and established a new program best in a third event while the men's team broke a pair of E&H times.

Top Men's Performances
- Freshman Zavery Wallace (Buena Vista, Va.) took fifth in the shot put with a mark of 14.36 meters while freshman Gavin Lee (North Tazewell, Va.) also posted a top-15 finish at 13.07 meters.
- Freshman Hayden Oglesby (Virginia Beach, Va.) broke the school record in the 400 meters with a time of :52.90 to finish 29th overall. Freshman Zedrick Yeboah (Fredericksburg, Va.) also came in under the previous E&H best at :53.22 (36th).
- Freshman Matthew Klapak (Zion Crossroads, Va.) shattered the school record in the 5,000 meters going a 16:35.00 to cut more than 1:20 off the last time. He finished 29th overall in the event. Klapak also recorded a time of 4:48.18 (38th) in the mile.

Women's Top Performances
- Freshman Michelle Diaz (Woodbridge, Va.) cut over half a second off the school record in the 200 meters, going a :28.71. She also dropped over eight-tenths of a second off her own record in the 400 meters at 1:06.57 as she finished 44th in the event.
- Sophomore Annalyse McHone (Shawsville, Va.) set the program mark in the 5,000 meters at 21:20.25 as she finished 19th in the event. She also grabbed a 38th-place finish in the mile at 6:06.00.
- Sophomore Madeline Bishop (Collinsville, Va.) was 39th in the 800 meters with a time of 2:45.86. She was also 25th in the 5,000 at 22:56.08.
- Freshman Avery Word (Fincastle, Va.) placed 30th in the shot put (9.34m) and 32nd in the weight throw (9.62m). Freshman Arianna Endicott (Hurley, Va.) finished 34th in the weight at 8.83 meters and 27th in the shot (8.71m).

- Emory & Henry will compete in the final meet of the indoor season on Friday, February 18 and Saturday, February 19 at the DMR Invitational, hosted by JDL Fast Track.
