Emory & Henry Women’s Track & Field Takes Ninth At Bridgewater’s Doc Jopson Invitational

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Track & Field Teams continued action in their outdoor season on Saturday at the Doc Jopson Invitational, hosted by Bridgewater College. The men's team broke three school records on its way to a third-place finish while the women set one new program mark, taking ninth as a team.

Top Men's Performances
- Freshman Zadok Laryea (Ruther Glen, Va.) set the E&H record in the triple jump with a mark of 13.34 meters and was also second in the shot put (12.91m) and 15th in the discus.
- Senior Lucas Biggerstaff (Knoxville, Tenn.) established a school record in the 10,000 meters at 41:39.34, winning the event.
- The hammer throw saw freshman Gavin Lee (North Tazewell, Va.) take sixth place with a school-record mark of 43.69 meters. He was also fourth in the discus (39.35m).
- In the shot put, freshman Zavery Wallace (Buena Vista, Va.) placed first at 13.45 meters, and was third in the discus (39.79m) and 10th in the hammer throw (37.71m).
- In the sprints, freshman Hayden Oglesby (Virginia Beach, Va.) was the runner-up in the 400 meters, running a :52.48 with freshman Zedrick Yeboah (Fredericksburg, Va.) finishing fourth at :53.53.
- Freshman Bryce Cobler (Meadowview, Va.) was second in the 200 meters at :24.45 as freshman Khalid Williams (Manassas, Va.) took fifth in :25.03. Williams was the Wasps' top performer in the 100 meters at :12.38, finishing 15th.

Women's Top Performances
- In the 400 meters, freshman Michelle Diaz (Woodbridge, Va.) broke her own record with a time of 1:04.24, finishing fifth. She was also the runner-up in the 200 meters at :28.14.
- Freshman Chloe Jones (Harrison, Tenn.) placed fourth in the 100 meters, stopping the watches in :14.35.
- The 800 meters saw freshman Jade Streeby (Speedwell, Va.) take sixth place in 2:52.57 as sophomore Madeline Bishop (Collinsville, Va.) was ninth.
- Bishop led E&H in the 1,500 meters at 5:33.87 which was good for 17th while Streeby was 18th.
- In the throws, freshman Avery Word (Fincastle, Va.) was 12th in the shot put (9.56m), 17th in the discus (24.00m) and 27th in the hammer throw (20.27m). Freshman Beverley Vedder (Virginia Beach, Va.) placed 19th in the javelin with a mark of 16.90 meters and was 24th in the discus.
