Emory & Henry Women’s Track & Field Competes At Electric City Invitational Saturday

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Emory & Henry College Track & Field Teams kept the season rolling on Saturday at the Electric City Invitational, hosted by Anderson (S.C.) University. The men's team posted a 17th-place finish with one school record while the women's squad broke two records on the day.

Top Men's Performances
- Freshman Hayden Oglesby (Virginia Beach, Va.) broke the E&H record yet again in the 200 meters with a time of 23:07 (23rd).
- In the 400 meters, freshman Zedrick Yeboah (Fredericksburg, Va.) led the Wasps with a 15th-place finish at 51.25 while Oglesby was 20th at :52.58.
- Senior Lucas Biggerstaff (Knoxville, Tenn.) placed 19th in the 5,000 meters as he ran a time of 19:46.75.
- In the 4x100 meter relay, Yeboah, freshman Zadok Laryea (Ruther Glen, Va.), Oglesby and freshman Bryce Cobler (Meadowview, Va.) placed ninth as they crossed the line in :44.51.
- Laryea was seventh in the triple jump (12.52m) and 17th in the long jump (5.54m).
- In the throws, freshman Gavin Lee (North Tazewell, Va.) placed fourth in the discus with a mark of 43.31 meters and was 17th in the shot put (12.02m). Freshman Zavery Wallace (Buena Vista, Va.) threw a 13.08 meters in the shot put which was good for 11th and was 25th (32.56m) in the discus.

Women's Top Performances
- Freshman Michelle Diaz (Woodbridge, Va.) broke her own record in the 400 meters (1:02.95) finishing 16th overall. Freshman Jade Streeby (Speedwell, Va.) and sophomore Madeline Bishop (Collinsville, Va.) were 23rd and 24th, respectively.
- Bishop turned in a time of 2:40.84 in the 800 meters which was good for a new school record and a 35th-place finish. Diaz was also 22nd in the 200 meters at :27.39.
- In the 5,000 meters, sophomore Annalyse McHone (Shawsville, Va.) ran an 20:27.03 to finish 13th.
- Freshman Avery Word (Fincastle, Va.) took 17th in the shot put with a throw of 9.00 meters, was 19th in the discus (27.06m) and 22nd in the hammer throw at 26.69 meters.
- Freshman Beverley Vedder (Virginia Beach, Va.) had a mark of 17.93 in the javelin. She was 20th in the discus (23.97m) and 22nd in the shot put (8.02m).
