Emory & Henry Track & Field Opens Outdoor Season With Nine Records At Mountaineer First Chance

Top Men's Performances
- Junior Gavin Lee (North Tazewell, Va.) won the hammer throw with a school-record mark of 56.45 meters and was the runner-up in the discus at 45.47 meters. Junior Zavery Wallace (Buena Vista, Va.) took third in the hammer and was 10th in the shot put.
- Senior Colby Davenport (Loves Mill, Va.) placed fourth in the javelin, breaking his own record with a toss of 46.59 meters.
- Sophomores Drew Craft (Covington, Va.) and Joseph Ihlenburg (Roanoke, Va.) tied for fourth in the high jump at 1.85 meters to share the new school record. Craft was third in the triple jump at 13.05 meters and fifth in the long jump (6.35m) while Ihlenburg was eighth in the long jump.
- Sophomore Will Humphrey, II (Charlotte, N.C.) went a 10.66 seconds in the 100 meters to finish fourth and break the school record as sophomore T.J. Pecina (Hayter's Gap, Va.) was ninth in the 400 meters with a time of :53.47. Junior Samuel Tindall (Fort Defiance, Va.) placed seventh in the invitational division of the 800 meters (2:00.12) with sophomore Gavin Kegler (Woodbridge, Va.) taking eighth.
- In the 1,500 meters, junior Miles Baldwin (Willis, Va.) was the runner-up on a time of 4:12.03 with Tindall taking fourth. Senior Matthew Klapak (Zion Crossroads, Va.) finished sixth in the 5,000 meters (16:29.93) as sophomore Aidan Trautman (Centreville, Md.) went eighth.
- The 110-meter hurdles saw sophomore Nour Nabi (Lake Ridge, Va.) come in second at 15.81 seconds as freshman Korbin Dixon (Milton, Ontario, CANADA) placed fourth. Nabi was fifth in the 400-hurdles (:59.64) with Dixon taking seventh. In the 3,000-steeplechase, sophomore Davis Norman (Salem, Va.) placed sixth in 10:19.92 as sophomore Justin Owens (Grundy, Va.) was seventh.

Women's Top Performances
- Freshman Aiyana Blakey (Woodbridge, Va.) broke the school record in both the 100 and 200 meters, running a 12.55 seconds in the 100 to finish 11th and a 26.26 seconds in the 200 which was good for 15th.
- Freshman Mia Spangler (Floyd, Va.) placed third in the triple jump with a school-record distance of 10.86 meters and notched a fifth-place leap of 5.09 meters in the long jump for a second record.
- Junior Delaney Eller (Salem, Va.) won the 5,000 meters with a school-record time of 17:55.79, obliterating her previous best by 55 seconds while sophomore Kennedy Harris (Mineral, Va.) was ninth in the 1,500 meters (5:18.22).
- Sophomore Maya Turner (Midland, Va.) ran a 1:04.15 to take seventh in the 400 meters with freshman Tess Somervell (Chilhowie, Va.) placing seventh in the 800 at 2:31.00. Kennedy Harris was eight while sophomore McKenzie Tate (Wytheville, Va.) was 10th.
- The 400-meter hurdles saw junior Madison Ricketts (Kingsport, Tenn.) place third in 1:10.97 while Abby Harris (Powell, Tenn.) was sixth and Adrianna Hall (Salem, Va.) was eighth. Abby Harris went a :17.14 in the 100-meter hurdles to take eighth with senior Hope Christensen (Moroni, Utah) Placing ninth. Christensen was third in the high jump at 1.50 meters with Abby Harris finishing fifth.
- Junior Elise McKinney (Church Hill, Tenn.) was fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at 12:54.63.

Up Next
- Emory & Henry will return to the Tarheel State on Saturday for the Livingstone Blue Bear Invitational, hosted by Livingstone College. The meet is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.
