
ROCK HILL, S.C. – Emory & Henry University freshman Mia Spangler has been selected as the South Atlantic Conference Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week, SAC officials announced Tuesday. This year, the SAC Players of the Week are being sponsored by WePlayed Sports.
This marks the first time in Spangler's career that she has earned weekly honors from the league.
Spangler is part of Emory & Henry's clean sweep of the SAC Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week this week. Junior Gavin Lee (North Tazewell, Va.), sophomore Will Humphrey, II (Charlotte, N.C.) and junior Madison Ricketts (Kingsport, Tenn.) also received recognition for their accomplishments.

The Floyd, Virginia native picked up a pair of event wins at the inaugural Blue & Gold Track Classic at E&H's Food City Sports Complex on Saturday. She broke her school record in the long jump with a leap of 5.26 meters and also placed first in the triple jump at 10.57 meters.
Emory & Henry will compete in the South Atlantic Conference Championships beginning on Wednesday. Lenoir-Rhyne University will host the two-day meet at Irwin Belk Track at the Moretz Sports Complex.
