Emory & Henry Downs Bluefield State, 3-0, Thursday At Home

EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Volleyball Team (4-2) made short work of Bluefield State College (0-1) Thursday defeating the Lady Blues by a 3-0 score (25-8, 25-16, 25-11).

The Wasps jumped out to a 12-2 lead in the first set thanks to five straight service aces by sophomore middle hitter Nicole Tesh (Boone, N.C.). E&H cruised to a 25-8 victory, hitting .579 for the frame.

Emory & Henry got out to a 10-2 advantage in the second set and never looked back going on to win 25-16.

The Wasps sealed the deal in the third set, winning 25-11. E&H hit .500 during the third stanza and was able to side out nine-of-10 serves by the Lady Blues.

Junior outside hitter Morgan Grant (Abingdon, Va.) led the way for the Wasps with nine kills, while freshman outside hitter Katelyn Kast (Christiansburg, Va.) had seven kills. Junior middle hitter Kimmie Caudill (Galax, Va.) had six kills and five blocks while Tesh finished the match with six service aces. Sophomore setter Fallon Davis (Mooresville, N.C.) lead the way with 16 assists.

Bluefield State was led by Molly Dove as she dished out 13 assists while Lindsey Whited and Caitlin Russell had four kills each.

Emory & Henry will travel to Meredith College on Saturday where they will take on Meredith and Methodist University. The Wasps will play at 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
