FOREST, Va. – Two players from Emory & Henry College have been named to the All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference Volleyball Teams, ODAC officials announced Monday. The all-conference teams are selected by the league’s 11 head coaches.

Junior outside hitter Jamie Cockerham (Galax, Va.) was picked to the all-league second team while sophomore middle Nicole Tesh (Boone, N.C.) received Third-Team All-ODAC honors.

Cockerham led the Wasps in kills (303) and kills per set (3.12), was second in hitting percentage (.225) and digs per set (2.12) and was third on the squad with 29 service aces.  She also had 14 matches with 10 or more kills and reached double figures in digs 12 times on the season as well.  

The Galax High School graduate went on a tear in the last four weeks of the season, with 12 or more kills in eight of the Wasps’ last 10 matches, and setting a new career-high of 23 kills at Covenant (Oct. 20).

Tesh was third for E&H in kills (205) and kills per set (2.14) while leading the team in hitting percentage (.288). She finished second on the squad in service aces (37) and blocks (55).

The graduate of Watauga High School reached double figures in kills seven times during the season and had six outings where she hit .500 or better. Tesh tied her career-high with 16 kills against Randolph (Oct. 19) and recorded seven service aces versus Southern Virginia (Sept. 29), a personal best.

Emory & Henry concluded the 2011 season with a 14-13 record, a four-match improvement over the 2010 season and finished tied for sixth in the ODAC (5-5), up a spot from a year ago.
