Emory & Henry’s Jamie Cockerham Named ODAC Volleyball Player Of The Week

FOREST, Va. – Emory & Henry College senior outside hitter Jamie Cockerham has been selected as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, ODAC officials announced Tuesday. It is the first time in her career that Cockerham has earned the honor.

The Galax, Va. native led the Wasps to a 4-1 mark in just three days of play last week, averaging 3.83 kills and 2.39 digs per set. She posted a pair of double-doubles against Methodist University and William Peace University. She concluded the week with a career-high 26 kills to go along with 10 digs in a 3-2 win over WPU Sunday afternoon.

The last time an E&H player was named ODAC Player of the Week was in week nine of the 2009 season. Rachel Fertitta took home the weekly league honors for the Wasps.

Emory & Henry will return to action on Friday afternoon when it travels to Roanoke to compete in the Hollins Tournament. The Wasps will face off against Virginia Intermont College at 1:00 p.m., and Gettysburg College at 5:00 p.m.
