Bridgewater Volleyball Defeats Emory & Henry, 3-1, Friday In ODAC Action

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater College Volleyball Team (3-6, 1-1 ODAC) picked up a 3-1 Old Dominion Athletic Conference win over visiting Emory & Henry (7-3, 0-1 ODAC) Friday evening at Nininger Hall. The Eagles defeated the Wasps by set scores of 23-25, 25-23, 25-21 and 25-17.

Bridgewater was led offensively by Katie long with 17 kills and Cadie Castle, who had 12 kills of her own. Lindsay Kallam (21 assists) and Kylie Graham (16 assists) split the setting duties while Casey O'Learyhad a match-high 12 digs in the contest.

Emory & Henry was paced by senior outside hitter Jamie Cockerham (Galax, Va.) with 12 kills, 10 digs and three service aces while freshman outside hitter Hannah Stewart (Boone, N.C.) had 10 kills and 10 digs for the double-double as well. Junior middle Nicole Tesh (Boone, N.C.) posted 11 kills and senior middle Kim Caudill (Galax, Va.) had seven kills and four blocks on the night. Sophomore setter Maleah Neely (Hillsville, Va.) registered a match-high 33 assists and added seven digs.

E&H will remain on the road tomorrow when it faces Southern Virginia University and Eastern Mennonite University in a tri-match. The Wasps will face the EMU Royals at 11:00 a.m. in ODAC play, and will conclude the day with a match against the SVU Knights at 1:00 p.m.
