Emory & Henry Volleyball Sweeps Shenandoah, 3-0, Saturday Afternoon

EMORY, Va. - The Emory & Henry College Volleyball Team (11-4, 2-2 ODAC) leveled its record in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play Saturday afternoon as it defeated league-newcomer Shenandoah University (7-4, 1-3 ODAC) by a 3-0 (25-18, 25-13, 25-20) score at the John Rutledge King Center.

The Wasps were able to put together timely runs throughout the contest including eight- and six-point runs in set two and a six-point scoring spurt in the third stanza en route to the victory.

Emory & Henry dominated offensively as it attacked at a .260 (44-18-100) percentage as a team compared to just .023 (21-19-87) for Shenandoah.

E&H senior outside hitter Jamie Cockerham (Galax, Va.) had 13 kills, nine digs and two service aces, while junior middle Nicole Tesh (Boone, N.C.) registered 10 kills, five blocks and a pair of aces as well. Senior right side hitter Tessa Burton (Gate City, Va.) was errorless for the match as she hit .700 (7-0-10) for the Wasps.

Sophomore setter Maleah Neely (Hillsville, Va.) led all players as she dished out 35 assists and had nine digs while junior libero Kelly Mae Kerlin (Franklin, Tenn.) had a match-high 13 digs.

Emory & Henry will travel to Athens, W.Va., on Monday afternoon to face Concord University and West Virginia University Tech in a tri-match. The Wasps will take on WVU Tech at 5:00 p.m., and host Concord in the nightcap at 7:00.
