FOREST, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Volleyball Team has seen three of its players named to the All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference Teams, ODAC officials announced Monday morning. The all-conference teams are voted on by the league's 12 head coaches.
Senior outside hitter Jamie Cockerham (Galax, Va.) was selected to the all-league first team while junior middle Nicole Tesh (Boone, N.C.) and junior libero Kelly Mae Kerlin (Franklin, Tenn.) were named Third-Team All-ODAC.
Cockerham led the Wasps in kills (359) and kills per set (3.66), was second in digs per set (3.66) fourth in hitting percentage (.213) and 25 service aces. She also had 21 matches with 10 or more kills and reached double figures in digs 11 times on the season as well. Cockerham now holds the E&H record for kills in a career (905) and kills in a match (28 vs. Guilford, Oct. 2).
Tesh was second on the team in kills (279), kills per set (2.88) and hitting percentage (.289). She posted 30 service aces, which was third best on the team and led the squad with 62 blocks. The Watauga High School graduate had 16 matches with double-digit kills and had six matches where she hit over .400. Tesh set a new career-high with 19 kills against Gettysburg and had a season-high seven blocks against West Virginia Tech.
Kerlin paced the Wasps with 340 digs on the year (3.66 d/s) and added 22 service aces. She also came in as a setter when the Wasps' starter was sidelined with an injury. Kerlin had 19 matches with 10 or more digs and four with over 20 digs, including a career-high 22 at Washington and Lee. She also had a personal-best seven service aces against Wesleyan (Ga.).
Emory & Henry concluded the 2012 season with a 17-11 record, a three-match improvement over the 2011 season and finished sixth in the ODAC (6-5).
