Emory & Henry Volleyball Wins A Pair Saturday At Knights Fall Classic

ASTON, Pa. – The Emory & Henry College Volleyball Team (14-8) picked up a pair of wins Saturday in the final day of the Knights Fall Classic hosted by Neumann University. The Wasps defeated the host Neumann Knights, 3-1 (25-12, 25-19, 22-25, 25-23), to start things off and claimed a 3-0 (25-13, 25-14, 25-23) victory over the Raptors of Rutgers University-Campden.

In the opener against Neumann, sophomore right side hitter Hannah Doss (Meadowview, Va.) notched 14 kills on a .400 hitting percentage and added five digs. Sophomore outside hitter Tristen Pennington (Kingsport, Tenn.) and sophomore middle Kennady Thomason (Chattanooga, Tenn.) had 12 and 10 kills, respectively while Thomason added four block and Pennington posted three aces. Senior setter Maleah Neely (Hillsville, Va.) dished out 48 assists and completed the double-double with 13 digs. Sophomore libero Emily Hinshaw (Boone, N.C.) had 14 digs as well.

Emory & Henry hit .241 (51-16-145) as a team and registered eight blocks and eight service aces against the Knights.

In the final match against the Raptors, Thomason had 12 kills and added four blocks to lead the Wasps. Doss notched 10 kills and four service aces while freshman setter Sarah Scott (Collinsville, Va.) notched 15 assists. Hinshaw posted 13 digs while senior middle Anika Constantinescu (Surrey, British Columbia, CANADA) recorded five kills and four aces.

As a team, Emory & Henry attacked a .200 (36-15-105) percentage and had six blocks and 11 service aces.

Emory & Henry will return to the court on Wednesday when it hosts Bridgewater College in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference match beginning at 6:30 p.m. The contest will be the annual Dig Pink match for Emory & Henry and all fans in attendance are encouraged to wear pink in support of breast cancer research.
