Southern Virginia Volleyball Shuts Out Emory & Henry, 3-0, Friday Night

BUENA VISTA, Va. – The Southern Virginia University Volleyball Team (8-4, 0-0 CAC) earned a 3-0 (25-20, 25-7, 25-12) victory over visiting Emory & Henry College (4-10, 2-2 ODAC) Saturday in non-conference action.

How It Happened
- The two teams went back and forth early in the first set before the Wasps pushed their advantage to 18-15. SVU then took control of the set and the match, scoring 10 of the next 12 points for the 25-20 win.
- The Knights got out to a 7-1 advantage in the second frame and never looked back, taking a 2-0 lead in the contest after a 25-7 victory.
- Southern Virginia sealed the deal in three building an 14-7 lead and then putting together an 11-5 closing run take the match, 25-12.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Senior outside hitter Ali Singleton (Mount Jackson, Va.) led the Wasps with six kills.
- Junior setter Sam McCauley (Glade Spring, Va.) notched eight assists and eight digs while sophomore libero Lauren Coolidge (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) added eight digs of her own.

Southern Virginia Individual Leaders
- Hannah Allred posted a match-high 12 kills and added nine digs while three other Knights tallied seven kills.
- LaRee Crockett added 27 assists and eight digs while Mykynli Knight led all players with 11 digs.

Up Next
- Emory & Henry returns home on Wednesday for an Old Dominion Athletic Conference match against Eastern Mennonite University.
- First serve between the Wasps and Royals is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
