Emory & Henry Volleyball Splits A Pair At Brevard Invitational Saturday

HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. – The Emory & Henry College Volleyball Team (2-6, 0-0 ODAC) split its pair of matches Saturday in the Brevard Invitational. The Wasps opened the day with a sweep over Greensboro College (1-5, 0-0 USA South) before falling to Meredith College (5-2, 0-0 USA South) to conclude their weekend competition.

The Greensboro Match
- Senior right-side hitter Tori Holmberg (Wake Forest, N.C.) paced the Wasps with 13 kills while senior outside hitter Rebecca Morehouse (Kingsport, Tenn.) had 10 kills.
- Freshman middle Makayla Payne (Bristol, Va.) tacked on seven kills while senior setter Sam McCauley (Glade Spring, Va.) had 29 assists, nine digs and two service aces.
- Senior libero Huntre Baxter (Blountville, Tenn.) put up 23 digs and eight assists while freshman outside hitter Chelsie Crussell (Kingsport, Tenn.) added four kills, three aces and 11 digs.

The Meredith Match
- Crussell notched a team-high six kills and added five digs while Holmberg and Morehouse had five kills each.
- McCauley put up 18 assists and a led the Wasps with nine digs while Baxter finished with eight digs.

Up Next
- Emory & Henry will begin Old Dominion Athletic Conference play on Wednesday when it travels to face Ferrum College. It will be the first-ever ODAC match for the Panthers, who joined the league over the summer.
- First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
