St. Andrews Volleyball Sweeps Emory & Henry, 3-0, Tuesday Evening

EMORY, Va. – The St. Andrews University Volleyball Team (9-20) picked up a 3-0 win against Emory & Henry College (8-11) in cross-divisional play on Tuesday evening. The Knights won the match by scores of 25-23, 25-21 and 25-22.

How It Happened
- SAU opened up a 4-1 lead in the opening set but E&H went for a 4-1 run of its own to tie things at 5-all. With the score, 15-15 a three-point run by the Knights gave them a lead they would not relinquish. The Wasps closed the gap to one five times down the stretch but couldn't get over the hump as St. Andrews won the opener, 25-23.
- In the second, Emory & Henry jumped out to a 5-1 lead but St. Andrews came back to tie things at 11-11. The Knights went ahead 16-15, and after another pair of ties had a two- and three-point run to put distance between themselves and the Wasps for the 25-21 win.
- St. Andrews stormed out to an 11-5 advantage early in the third and pressed the margin to 18-9 before an 11-1 run by Emory & Henry gave the Wasps a 20-19 lead. Tie scores at 20, 21 and 22 kept E&H in the running but three in a row by SAU sealed the contest, 25-22.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Junior right-side hitter Carley Williams (Bristol, Tenn.) led the Wasps with 12 kills and had two blocks while freshman outside hitter Camden Jones (Bristol, Va.) had seven kills and two blocks.
- Sophomore right-side hitter Brianna Hogan (Front Royal, Va.) and sophomore middle Hannah Watson (Kingsport, Tenn.) had seven and six kills, respectively as Watson added two blocks.
- Freshman setter Paige Halcrow (Oak Ridge, Tenn.) dished out 19 assists and had seven digs while junior setter Marissa Snapp (Chuckey, Tenn.) put up 14 assists and five digs.

St. Andrews Individual Leaders
- Ashley McGugan notched 12 kills to lead the Saints while three other players put up eight kills.
- Abigail Ives posted a double-double with 22 assists and 12 digs while Carmen Wright went for 12 assists and three aces. Karina Lozada tallied 12 digs.

Up Next
- Emory & Henry will host Greensboro College on Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m. The match will serve as the Wasps' annual Dig Pink night.
