Emory & Henry Volleyball Sweeps Bluefield State, 3-0, In Final Match Sunday Afternoon

EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Volleyball Team (15-11) finished the year on a seven-match winning streak as it defeated Bluefield State College (9-10) by a 3-0 score Sunday afternoon.

How It Happened
- The two teams opened the first set out to a 6-all tie before Emory & Henry went on a 10-2 run to lead 16-8. Trailing 21-12, the Lady Blues scored seven of the next eight to close the gap to 22-19, but the Wasps held on for the 25-22 win.
- E&H stormed out to a 10-3 lead in the second frame and pushed its advantage to 18-8. Five in a row by BSC made it an 18-13 contest but E&H rolled on to the 25-17 victory and a 2-0 lead in the match.
- The squads went back and forth early in the third with five in a row for the Wasps giving them a 10-6 advantage. E&H had scoring runs of four and three points down the stretch as they sealed the win with a 25-22 score.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Junior right-side hitter Carley Williams (Bristol, Tenn.) had eight kills and one block while sophomore middle Hannah Watson (Kingsport, Tenn.) went for five kills and four blocks.
- Freshman setter Paige Halcrow (Oak Ridge, Tenn.) dished out 13 assists and added eight digs while junior setter Marissa Snapp (Chuckey, Tenn.) posted seven assists, three aches and five digs.
- Sophomore libero Sarah Moore (Kingsport, Tenn.) led the Wasps with nine digs.

Bluefield State Individual Leaders
- Kateryna Dashevska notched a match-high 14 kills and added six digs to pace the Lady Blues as Dajah Farmer notched four kills and eight digs.
- Taylor Sams had 12 assists and nine digs while Veronica Butler went for 11 assists and seven digs.
