Emory & Henry Volleyball Drops A Pair Of Matches To Start The 2022 Campaign

NAMPA, Idaho – The Emory & Henry College Volleyball Team (0-2) got the 2022 season started on Friday with two matches at the Seahawk Invitational, hosted by Northwest Nazarene University. The Wasps fell to the Dustdevils of Texas A&M International University (1-1) by a 3-0 score and lost a 3-0 decision to the Azusa Pacific University Cougars (3-1). APU is receiving votes in the AVCA Division II Top 25 Poll.

The Basics
RESULTS – Texas A&M International 3, Emory & Henry 0 (25-10, 25-14, 25-10)

The Texas A&M International Match
- Junior outside hitter Brianna Hogan (Front Royal, Va.) led the way with six kills and added three digs  while senior right-side hitter Carley Williams (Bristol, Tenn.) tacked on five kills.
- Freshman setter Payton Rolfsen (Fort Wayne, Ind.) dished out 11 assists with to go along with three digs and two kills. Senior setter Marissa Snapp (Chuckey, Tenn.) went for six assists and six digs.

The Azusa Pacific Match
- Hogan again paced the squad with six kills, two aces, a block and four digs while freshman middle Gracyn Miller (Lilburn, Ga.) tacked on five kills and a block.
- Sophomore middle Samantha Worthy (Arden, N.C.) collected four kills and three digs as Williams notched four kills and a block of her own.
- Rolfsen posted 14 assists and four digs with Snapp going for seven assists and three digs. Junior libero Libby Bickelhaupt (Fort Myers, Fla.) had a team-high seven digs and a service ace.

Up Next
- Emory & Henry will conclude play in the Seahawk Invitational on Saturday when it faces Rollins College at 4:00 p.m. (2:00 p.m. Mountain) and Northwest Nazarene at 9:00 p.m. (7:00 p.m. Mountain).
