Emory & Henry Volleyball Opens SAC Era With Strong Showing Against Limestone

EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Volleyball Team (0-6, 0-1 SAC) got the South Atlantic Conference era started both for the program and the College with a match against Limestone University (4-0, 1-0 SAC) Friday afternoon at home. The Saints, who are picked to finish eighth in the league this year, took the match by scores of 25-18, 32-30 and 25-22.

E&H also honored senior setter Marissa Snapp (Chuckey, Tenn.), who reached her 1,000th career assist against Azusa Pacific University (Aug. 26), during the match.

How It Happened
- E&H got out to a 5-2 advantage early in the first set but Limestone surged back with an 11-7 run to lead, 13-9. The two squads traded points before a 9-4 run by the Saints to close things out gave them a 25-19 win.
- In the second, Emory & Henry pushed out to a 13-7 advantage before Limestone put up its own run to tie the contest at 18-all. That was the first of nine different ties late in the set as both teams found themselves on the brink. Down 30-29, the Saints scored three in a row to grab the set, 32-30, and a 2-0 lead in the match.
- The Wasps opened up a 9-5 lead to start the stanza before the Saints bounced back to go up, 11-10. The teams went back and forth with E&H earning a slim, 20-19, advantage but Limestone closed things out with a 6-2 run for the 25-22 win and the match.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Senior right-side hitter Carley Williams (Bristol, Tenn.) posted a team-high 12 kills to go along with seven digs while junior outside hitter Brianna Hogan (Front Royal, Va.) had nine kills and three blocks.
- Sophomore outside hitter Camden Jones (Bristol, Va.) tallied seven kills and seven digs.
- Freshman setter Payton Rolfsen (Fort Wayne, Ind.) dished out 13 assists, posted eight digs and added two aces as sophomore setter Paige Halcrow (Oak Ridge, Tenn.) went for 14 assists and eight digs.
- Junior libero Libby Bickelhaupt (Fort Myers, Fla.) led the squad with 19 digs and went for two assists while junior defensive specialist Sarah Moore (Kingsport, Tenn.) tallied 13 digs and three aces.

Limestone Individual Leaders
- Josie Curran paced the Saints with 12 kills, three blocks and four digs while Mia McMillen and Tatum Riddle had seven kills apiece. McMillen also registered 14 digs.
- Paige Gardella and Malina Harris split the setting duties with 13 assists each while Gabby Wessels led all players with 24 digs.
