Southern Wesleyan Volleyball Defeats Emory & Henry, 3-0, Saturday Afternoon

CENTRAL, S.C. – The Southern Wesleyan University Volleyball Team (2-11, 0-4 Conference Carolinas) defeated Emory & Henry College (1-13, 1-6 SAC) on Saturday afternoon in non-conference play. The Warriors took the 3-0 win by tallies of 25-22, 25-17 and 25-17.

How It Happened
- Southern Wesleyan took an early 10-6 lead in the first set, but the Wasps would respond with five unanswered points to jump ahead 11-10. The two teams traded points throughout the opening stanza and E&H held a 22-21 late in the set. The Warriors would rattle off four consecutive points to take the opening frame by a score of 25-22.
- SWU started the second set on the front foot and took another early lead at 12-7. The Warriors would increase their lead to as many as eight, en route to taking set number two by a 25-17 margin.
- The Warriors established an early advantage in the third set, as they ran out to a 10-2 lead. The Wasps trimmed the deficit to just two at 19-17, but SWU would hold on to take the set and match by a 25-17 scoreline.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Sophomore outside hitter Camden Jones (Bristol, Va.) led E&H with 10 kills and 14 digs. Freshman outside hiter Gracyn Miller (Lilburn, Ga.) had six kills, three digs and an assist while classmate Julissa Hopgood (Lutz, Fla.) contributed eight kills, six digs and a service ace from her middle position.
- Freshman setter Payton Rolfsen (Fort Wayne, Ind.) and sophomore setter Paige Halcrow (Oak Ridge, Tenn.) each recorded 15 assists. Rolfsen added six digs and two kills of her own.
- Junior libero Libby Bickelhaupt (Fort Myers, Fla.) contributed seven digs, two assists and two service aces.

Southern Wesleyan Individual Leaders
- Amber Bass had nine kills, six digs and two blocks to lead the Warriors. Abigail Gannaio added eight kills, one block and a dig, while teammate Kristina Pino had a team-high 13 digs.
- Ashley Sexton had a team-high 14 assists in addition to her eight digs.

Up Next
- Emory & Henry will make a midweek road trip to Tigerville, South Carolina on Tuesday to face the Crusaders of North Greenville University in non-conference action. First serve is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
